Butcher Block

Butcher Block countertops give your kitchen that warm, rustic look with authentic textures, patterns and colors.  The natural wood absorbs sound helping you make your kitchen a more peaceful environment.  This strong and durable material can be easily refinished and is very affordable.  Plus it is a natural “green” product made from sustainable harvest woods.  This surface does require periodic maintenance and can burn or scorch if hot pots and pans are placed on the surface.

Corian

Corian is a brand-name for solid-surface countertops that are easy to clean, easy to maintain and come in hundreds of beautiful colors and patterns.  This non-porous surface does not need sealing and can be formed into any shape desired, including integrated sinks and drain boards.  Corian countertops also offer creative options including illuminated surfaces so the countertop glows and integrated charging spots for mobile phones and tablets.  Corian is a great value and is generally less expensive than quartz or granite.

Dekton

Dekton kitchen countertops are a virtually indestructible surface that is scratch-proof, stain-proof and scorch proof.  This new and popular surface is available in large slab sizes and is perfect for indoor and outdoor applications.  Dekton is UV resistant and will not crack or break even in the hottest or coldest temps. Because the countertop offers full-body color, routine maintenance such as sanding will reveal the same color all the way through. Dekton is sometimes difficult to get, so ask your Dixieline Kitchen Design Consultant on availability and customized options.

Granite Slab

Granite countertops are often at the top of the list for kitchen remodeling ideas.  Their wide availability of colors, patterns and design possibilities make granite a very popular option.  Each granite slab is naturally unique and comes in over 2500 colors and patterns.  Granite is one of the hardest and strongest materials in nature, is nearly impossible to scratch and can withstand hot pots and pans without burns or damage.  Plus cleaning is a snap.

Laminate

Laminate countertops are a great value that offer a wide selection of colors and patterns at a very low price.  The surface is not as luxurious or durable as quartz, soapstone, marble or granite, but they can look just like the real thing.  The visual beauty, depth of pattern and decorative edges are a huge leap forward from the laminate countertops from the 1970s.  Laminate resists stains very well and cleaning is easy, but it will scratch, chip and get cut from knives. 

Marble

Marble is a timeless, elegant countertop material that was once the exclusive option of the wealthy but now is much more affordable.  Choose from neutral classic tones, pastels such as springtime green and gentle yellow, or rich color tones with stunning veining.  Marble is softer than granite and can scratch more easily.  Because marble can etch from acidic liquids, a matte or honed finish is recommended.

Quartz

Quartz countertops are very popular and a competitive alternative to granite as the best performing surface.  Quartz is an engineered stone that has very similar properties to granite including resistance to heat, stain and scratching.  Top brands for Quartz include Silestone, Cambria, Avanza, Caesarstone and Zodiaq.  Quartz countertops are available in many colors and patterns, and are easy to maintain and clean.

Resin/Epoxy

Resin or Epoxy countertops are a new trend that give DIYers a granite or marble look at an affordable price.  Epoxy is a great way to refinish formica, laminate or ceramic countertops with a fresh, updated look.  The end result is a durable, high gloss finish that is heat resistant, food safe and easy to clean.  Plus it doesn't show any seams.  The effort to apply the resin can be messy and time consuming, but it is a great choice for homeowners with an artistic flair.

Soapstone

Soapstone countertops have become popular for homeowners wanting a unique look in a natural stone.  While color choices can be limited, the nearly solid color look to soapstone can be the perfect color accent for your kitchen.  Solid color soapstone surfaces have greater mineral content and thus are harder and more resistant to scratching.  Soapstone is a non-porous surface that won't stain and is easy to clean.
